So thats the old girl now MOT'd again.

1 new brake line, and a bit of freeing up on the brake calipers required (1 refurbished caliper thrown at it).

Having issues with the wheels now. Not blaming the bodyshop as they outsourced it, but still a faff. Full refund for that work has been offered but its more the inconvenience it'll cause thats annoying me. May just but a set of wider REP wheels to keep it up and running whilst the orig Fuchs are sent to a specialist to refurb.

Anyway... some pics


Needed to order a new trackrod castle nut - Some wear is expected after ~38years I guess. My nuts are prob a bit worn too (yak yak yak)



The oil return/drain tubes - pretty neat design solution for the 1 peice originals that would require heads off! Only replaced the leaky one for now. Will do rest as a winter project.



Car back home... cover is in the wash. Really need to crack on with the pimping out of the garage Laughing

Air cooled Porsches with the right exhaust sound amazing!

it had a new rear section for its previous MOT - 6 years ago... but it does need heat exchangers, so may opt for a new SS system whilst changing all that out.

Went for the 2-1 option rather than a twin 80mm box. Apparently a bit loud!

another update with nae pics.

Whilst getting valve clearances adjusted it was discovered that several of the lower head studs were snapped - a common problem with this age/engine it would seem.

So - engine out, and away for a bit of a refresh with new headstuds - all 24

the orig system is a convoluted thing! I'm replacing the headers/manifold + exhaust

Whap a decent downpipe and exhaust on a Impreza/Supra/GTR and you'd say hello to a lot of power! Never mind freer flowing manifolds. I know they are turbo, but makes a good example.

Next step in the unplanned Porsche resto Laughing

Engine arrived at Sports & Classic today. James B recommended them after having a good experience with his 911 of similar age.

Wok to be done - remove snapped headstuds & top end rebuild. Bit of a common issue on these engines - the dilivar steel studs studs corrode over time. A few snapped studs were discovered when the car was getting the valve clearances set.
