Just use them less Very Happy

Any reasonably priced options around to move to bigger calipers and floating/disc & bell setup? We use KSport due to their reasonable price, but not sure on their offerings for the Audi market... or their perceived reputation Smile

From my experience, on the VAG platform the only option to consider is a custom AP or Alcon set-up. Plenty of beefy caliper options from "S" range Audi's but they are simply not up to the job of heavy track work IMO.

You can put together a custom AP set-up for not a lot more than a decent off the shelf BBK.

Yes guys. I bought Vagbremtechnic discs which are AP racing and I think I have been unlucky. They are going back for testing and I'll probably end up with another set.

What was the issue? Warping/Cracking?

New discs giving horrendous vibration. Changed pads and had skimmed on hub. Slight runout. Still vibrating. New pads and hubs then gave up. All bushes etc ok. I do have a slight balance vibration as weights foul brake calipers so at the moment no weights fitted

I'd be amazed if the discs are found to be faulty as they're a very good piece of kit and well tested.

Your problems sound very similar to mine which was only solved by going to a good cross bolted or single piece caliper. The OEM calipers just cannot deal with heat and even on a floating disc I was warping discs within 1 or 2 laps.

On reflection, it was the best money I spent on the car, period. So much easier to chase lap times when you have confidence in your brakes.

Not being able to balance out the front wheels will not help either! best of luck in getting it sorted.

Thanks Mark. Never thought of that or heard it. Next year now though. The confidence thing is right. I've been braking twice on 2 or 3 bends each lap . No good.

If the new engine gets through the mapping session OK, I'll be there. Some minor issues getting it to fit (it's physically a little bigger) but should be able to work round them, at least temporally, with a proper fix for next year.

So will the new engine move you up a class David?

Does anyone know if there is a big entry list for this coming weekend?

I went into pro class this year partly for that reason. So no power limits to worry about Very Happy But we'll see where is ends up for next year, probably class A

Matty - I havent seen any numbers yet, but I know there are a few new faces and a few folk returning, so i'd expect it to be the busiest round(s) of the year
