Not seen any bundle deals.

Prices for stuff the now is still crazy high due to the cryptocurrency mining hugely over inflating hardware prices.

Was chatting through pc hardware stuff with my mate at the weekend and he was saying that hopefully the GPU prices should be coming down soon due to the introduction of ASIC boxes

Forget it for time being, you'll need at least 2k to get a decent enough set up to run VR well, unless you already have a 1070Ti/10180GTX/1080Ti based rig. I've tried a set up using the "lower" spec gear and it works well but once you've tried a beefy set up you can't go back from it. If only sim racing, you might get away with lower spec but you need good FPS for VR to really prove it's worth.

Also, try beforehand, motion sickness, headaches etc are quite common. I suffer from sickness after about 20mins.

I helped my mate setup his HTC Vive a few weeks ago (he's got 2x 970's in SLI) and it's superb doing the room scale stuff.

He's given me a loan of his old Oculus DK2 to see how I get on (not had a chance to use it yet) using it with rFactor2 and on my machine (i5 7600k, 8GB ram and a 1060 3gb)

Will report back whenever I finally get a chance to use it.

ah computers that's my world Smile Depends what game you are planning running on it and how you are displaying it - VR v' single screen v's triple screen. Each of those has different requirements ultimately on GPU. I think the challenge would be having a decent setup then not having the driving hardware to go with it.

There was no mention of wheel/pedals/shifter/cockpit and i have done a fair bit of looking into that recently etc..

Surprised at that, I moved from SLI 970's to a 1070Ti via 1060. I found VR (this was on a Rift btw) on the SLI 970's was terrible, bad performance scaling and pretty much not SLI compatible, just not enough FOS to make it immersive. It did work, just doesn't scale well performance wise.

1060 worked better than SLI 970's and the 1070Ti added about 15% performance in terms of raw FPS over the 1060.

If it's only for something like rFactor a 1060 should be sweet, it's the AAA VR titles that need more grunt.

He's not told me that he's had any issues with the 970SLI setup.

I know that he's waiting for the 11 series stuff now, said he's going to splurge and go for an 1180.

My 1060 is only the 3GB version.

Just got my hands on the Oculus Rift (CV1) and the touch controllers for just under £400 from Overclockers.

Now found out the set I had use of before was the DK2 so essentially still a development spec so not sure my comments above are relevant anymore.

The Rift hooked up to my 1070Ti is amazing, seriously blown away and the performance is much better.

Ok, so I cannot do driving games in VR. Insta projectile vomit for me, boooo. Cant get out of the pit lane at Knockhill without having to take off the headset and sit in a cold dark place for 10mins.

No amount of setting tweaking seems to help either. Damn.

Bugger, that's gutting one.

What sims are you using?

Getting any issues with any other VR games?

I went to setup the Oculus DK2 last week and the camera wasn't in the box. Not been able to get round to my mates to pick it up yet, so haven't been able to try it yet.

PC2 mate, I tried Skyrim to see what it was about and had the same issue.

All other VR stuff has been fine, although the roller coasters have the same effect, just not as bad.
