Is that last pic the result of blipper malfunction?

just pushing on whilst you were on/off brakes

Yes. I suspect I selected 2nd gear while still on the throttle in third. The torque would have locked the gearbox in 3rd gear and when the blipper fired it gave full throttle. Bias on the brakes was too little to overcome it.

In theory the Geartronic's should look at TPS and declined the shift - I need to find out why that didn't happen. Could be a fault or a setting not right, or simple bad luck/timing.

UPDATE:

Data from the gearbox and car show that the paddle shift worked correctly - the initial down change to 2nd declined due to RPM being too high. Looks like clumsy feet were to blame - or at least the problem was in the pedal box.
