prob about 400 but didnt really have all the supporting mods.
i.e the turbos were still ceramic shafted One let go and the remnants got sucked into the engine. Good bye engine. Rebuilt one was 480bhp _________________ Impreza - building...

Not an engine but a turbo.
I went up to Crail 2 weeks ago with my mate in his 200SX for a bit of Drifting on the oval.
Sliding away quite happily when.... Pop!.....no boost, lots of smoke.
oops. The shaft sheared clean off! The turbo was a GT28 from a Skyline GTR, not sure if thats common or not?
so theres an exhaust turbine wheel kicking about up at crail somewhere lol. _________________ 97 Astra GSI-T - Eat My Rust!! |

if its a standard GTR turbo, yes that is very common. They arent steel shafted! Ceramic and only good for about 1bar to 1.1bar _________________ Impreza - building...

yeah its standard I'm sure. It was running at 1.0 BAR.
Its now been replaced with a GT28RS, seems much better _________________ 97 Astra GSI-T - Eat My Rust!! |

Will try find the photos but in 7 years of owning the G40 it melted a piston and took the bottom end with it, blew 2 chargers, 2 gearboxes and one Helix paddle clutch. _________________

A recent bad gearchange resulting in my engine seeing over 10800rpm =
clutch cover
...also the exhaust cam jumped a tooth or two and the alternator belt came off.
Other than that engine appears to be fine. _________________ Come play my game.

lucky that clutch didnt make an exit through the front of the car!
saw it happen to a nova once when i was standing at pit wall, the clutch exploded out through bellhousing+rad+grille and blowing bonnet up some mess!
thats a lot of revs though! sounds like you've been quite lucky considering |

The outer part of the cover was still bolted firmly to the flywheel so no chance of the loose inner part flying out.
I've replaced the flywheel bolts, clutch plate, cover & release bearing since. _________________ Come play my game.
