Needing a rather small thing fabricating for HANS stuff just wondering if anyone knows of anyone around Glasgow area that they have used. Short of that since small could be anywhere if they ship Smile Probably about 50cmx15cm and 4mm thick with some holes drilled in it. Not the most complex thing in world.

Buy some 4mm aluminium and make it yourself.

Angle grinder with cutting blade to cut, Dremmel or other to finish, drill to make holes. Easy-peasy and good fun, assuming it's just a flat piece you need made.

If more complex, try Scott Brennan or Tom Gray at Brayon Classics Engineering, beside Duck Bay on Loch Lomond. I've had them fab me everything I needed Very Happy

so I would need to buy either an angle grinder/dremmel Smile On the off chance the Scottish scrutineer pops on its for a HANS mounting point and that spec was based on what DCL did.

Found a picture online and if you look at . So the metal would go between the two exiting fixing points and obviously have two screw holes to fix for that. The metal would then have two new holes nearer the center so the harnesses could be fixed to that

As you can (still) tell not usually a hands on kind of person - unless hands on is a keyboard Smile So don't have this mass of tools you all seem to have

ebay... order metal (steel) to spec and size.

Drill holes, use a file to tidy - job done Smile

looks like http://www.themetalstore.co.uk/products/4mm-thick-mild-steel-sheet would be option (or that kind of thing).

Is there any kind of type/strength requirements that you would be looking for. I guess (as dcl said in a mail) if you are worried about it not being strong enough in that thickness be more worried about what state your body would be in regardless Smile

from random internetting I came across appears its really strong. 250 mega pascals which is 16 long ton per square inch. sounds high?
