Rubbering in pretty quickly, there was PerformanceTek's tracknight last night and Dreadnought tonight so should be reasonably well broken in for SMRC.

Mark, you may well be on to plums there, it's the section I would estimate you'll be braking at has been redone leading in to the hairpin.

ian forrest was gaffering so no chance of the squad having a tea break.

apparently it is old mine workings that affect things at hairpin, plus the ground is very peaty and boggy. look at the field on the outside

The track does move significantly. The inside of the hairpin used to be a bog until recent drainage works. The "hump" at the start line used to be highest on the outside, now it is the inside that is highest.

I must spend too much time looking over that wall. I remember when the pit wall was Armco with 12" posts (that were rotten)

Reputedly there is a JCB sunk, never to be seen again.

Wonder what else is down there? Maybe a XR2 or a motorbike? A marshall? Laughing

I found the new surface to be fine. Plenty of grip on power and under braking. It was bone dry today though so could be another matter in the wet.
