Just a quick shout out for ASK Transmissions in Laurieston/Falkirk, for future ref for forum members as much as anything else.

Andrew, very nice bloke, has agreed to help out a needy racer and try and get my box turned around for this weekends SLS Final Very Happy Always nice to come across a company who are willing to try and help out where they can.

Fortunately, I had a spare VR6 gearbox lying around so assuming the box is not totally fubar'd, gives me the opportunity to try the longer 1st and 2nd gears I've been wanting to do for ages.

Very Happy

We discussed this before Wink

I didn't like the work done or his attitude & wouldn't go back.
I prefer his fathers place AJ Kane in bank side ind est Falkirk.

Best of luck & be good if they have changed their level of service

Well, I've had totally the opposite experience so far. Tried Kane's previously, a couple of times over the years and got the distinct feeling they were not interested whereas Andrew has done all he can to accommodate me so far Very Happy

Also recommended to me by stable-mate race team who know their stuff.

As with everything in life, internet etc some have good ones, some have bad ones. I just find it very refreshing when someone unnkown to you is willing to help at the outset, not very common these days.

Yep.

Gearbox stripped and rebuilt in 24 hrs. Needed a bit of welding so 48 hrs total turnaround. Can't ask for more than that. Box will be back in and functioning tomorrow night for testing on private roads Very Happy

That's the same ratio's as my 1st and 2nd. Are you using the whole box or just those gears?

Will the taller 2nd be beneficial over 3rd at Macintyres, still run 3rd or have to wait & see?
Even the mx5s get a better exit there than me & 2nd is too low Crying or Very sad

Nope, keeping my current 3rd, 4th and 5th and dropped in the 1st and 2nd longer ratios from the VR CCM box.

2nd was far too short, been meaning to do it for a while. 2nd to 3rd changes dropped too many revs. Should hopefully help at hairpin and poss McIntyres.
