by the time you have done that... you would be aswell with my DB5's
Those M615's are not any better that mine and will end up costing you the same.
+1 for Uberbike pads though.
Although the XT M8000's I just put on the bike came with 2 new complete sets for pads front and rear
I got my Hope pro 4 Enduro's on through the week, replacement dropper arrived last week too, just waiting for a 203mm post adapter, mech hanger and XTR shifter mount which should see my bike back together with some nice bits now!
Unfortunately all I can really do just now is put nice bits on my bike as I fell off a couple of weeks ago and dislocated my shoulder. lol
gutted to have missed out on racing at ft bill over the weekend. _________________ 1990 e30 318is forrestburn record holdinghillclimb slag

You do like hurting yourself Clarky
Im swaying more towards the Canyon now dropped my budget to around £2000
Either the Strive AL 6.0
or the Spectral AL 7.0
Any tips on frame size? I'm 6,2... thing I'm going to have to get the measuring tape out and measure all my limbs _________________ YouTube Channel |

Very true matey
The canyon bikes are nice, but a couple of my mates had some issues with their Strive's which involved them both returning their bikes and getting a full refund - both problems around the 'shapeshifter'.
They both ended up buying a Bird Aeris each, British build by a couple of guys down south, mega service and specced the bike to order for not a lot more than your budget. they both compete and have gone faster on their bird's than they ever did on the canyon's too!
If I was looking around you budget the money would be spent on a Bird Aeris or a Whyte T-130S
Ill probably be upgrading to a T-130RS at the end of the year TBH. my T-129s has been spot on, its needed a few wee upgrades (maybe not actually needed them) along the way, but the geometry and build quality are mega. The engineering behind it is a fair bit more comprehensive than most of the 'internet bikes' out there. _________________ 1990 e30 318is forrestburn record holdinghillclimb slag

canyon bikes are good but some of the delivery times are pretty bad due to issue they had. They aren't a dodgy company _________________ nothing to see here |

Aye,
Not dodgy, they just could get a frames to replace the issues that my mates had due to a supplier issue.
that lapierre looks like a good bike for the money,
however, what I would say is that the wheels are pretty flimsy, id spend a bit of money changing them, I had nearly the same wheel on my bike and cracked one, the rear mech is fairly average too - I managed to bend mine pretty easily, but I had some problems with it before - not a bad bit of kit for the money though (about 40-50 quid new)
the fox 34's of that age are not a great fork, id favour a RS Pike over them, ive got no experience on those brakes, but I don't know anyone using them (don't know if that's a good or bad thing, juts my experience)
One of my mates used to compete in a lapierre, and changed it for a pivot, but he rated the zesty well.
id like to know what age of reverb the bike has, if its an older one is probably on its way out and if you don't have proof of purchase form new you will struggle to get it replaced for a gen 2 that fixes reliability issues (ive just had mine replaced under warranty as have many others)
My Whyte is a large, they say that 6ft1 is the upper limit for that frame, which is exactly what I am, feels perfect for me. _________________ 1990 e30 318is forrestburn record holdinghillclimb slag

I had a box arrive yesterday containing a small transition suppressor in black. Excuse the Crappy pic, it was dark when I finished building it.
Spec is
XT crank, 11sp XT shifter, cassette, mech and KMC 11-93 chain
Spank spike vibrocore 800mm - eating haven 55mm stem - hope headset,
Spank oozy 295 trail bead wheels - current tyres maxxis HR2 2.4 rear, conti baron 2.3 front. will be changing the front back to the 3C HR2 and maybe get something faster rolling for the back once it dries up a bit.
Saint brakes 203mm F&R ice tech rotors
Reverb stealth 125mm WTB volt saddle
Ergon GE1 slim grips
Pike 160mm
Time MX6 pedals
30.6lb
Still need to set up suspension

Looks Great!
The brakes look massive on the 26" wheels, especially with 203 on the back - cool.
the grips look odd in the pic - id say you need some Hope grip doctors to match you headset _________________ 1990 e30 318is forrestburn record holdinghillclimb slag

So... with my bike being stolen I'll need another.
Not worth claiming on house insurance, so will just look to get something a bit better this time around as I was finding the hardtail a bit too much hard work to hold onto
Full susp, but not wanting a heavy bike.... willing to go second hand - Budget = unknown

After reading some reviews on mid-level trail bikes...
The 2 that caught my eye are
Trek Remedy 7
Canondale Habit 4
although the the front suspension of the Cannondale is freaking me out a bit
Will check ebay to see how much these are second hand. Maybe too new to be up for a bargain yet
Think i'd prefer 29s too, just going from the hardtails i've tried with bigger wheels. _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC
