Hi there, thought I would introduce myself.
I'm mat, I've been going to Knockhill as often as I can for years to spectate you guys and any other trackdays going but never been in the position to drive my own car on track!

However, Me and my father have recently bought a '96 Toyota mr2 n/a as a project summer car with the hope I may be able to finally get round the track! Lol.

Anyway, no doubt I'll be hanging about at the next trackday (tomorrow or Monday depending on how fast I can get my brakes back on!) And maybe meet some of you in person.

Cheers

Hi Matt

Not a bad 1st car.
I bought a 93 gt to do a banger rally & it did a trackday or 2 without too much bother.

Make sure the top mounts on the front shocks are good they suffer terribly & also that the alternator has a really good earth (fit extra earth straps). Apart from that the engine is very strong, mine over heated 30+times enroute to rome & stiil kept running!

Are you going to spectate tomorrow?
If so say hello, I'm in the white clio 172 with 2x black viper stripes.

Very Happy

Hi chorlton,

The engine seems in great nick. Did a full service last month. Will look out for alternator though thanks! The brakes were shot, so I've removed all calipers, sort of refurbished them, braided lines all round with yellowstuff pads and grooved discs up front. I think a drop link is away so will look at the top mounts while I'm there!

Yea I'm hoping to get to Knockhill tomorrow after lunch. I'll say hi if I see you!

Trackdays 9-1 & race practice 2pm onwards. Thumbs Up

Get some strut braces off ebay & part worns tyres the correct size.
Mine came with 205 width china brand rears & just putting 225 width premium brand partworns on for 40 it went 2sec quicker at Knockhill!

I know little about most cars but spent days under & over that mr2.
Would still ike a well sorted hard top turbo Very Happy

Nice meeting you too mate. Maybe get a lap in next time! The cars looking great, makes me miss my 182, though it wasn't up to the sane standard LOL. I'm fitting the last of the braided lines today, then geometry setup and should be good to go!

Could do with someone who knows the track to give me some tuition when I get up there?

Hamish Smart - 'haggis' on here, will be happy to show you around the track, and basically make you faster, for 30 quid for 30 mins. money well spent.

Welcome and see you soon!
