Fantastic read this. Great to see a mk2 with the TFSI running gear rather than the tried and tested 20vt or VR6.

I've just bought a mk2 GTi for a project myself.

I also own a mk2 leon Cupra running the Revo stage 2+ software making 380bhp. Yours must be insane in a much lighter car.

Cheers Renny, I've asked Ian to comment.

Have been in contact with Ian Afek to discuss the possibility of running my WMI system with water only.
Ian discussed with the other scrutineers and has confirmed to me that water only is not allowed. Allowing water only would be very difficult to police and could prove costly if it were to be tested correctly.
So i discussed the possibility of using my WMI system to spray water on to the outside of the FMIC and he confirmed this would be acceptable.
A mutually amicable outcome which allows me to keep my system fitted, albeit feeding a spray bar or nozzle to the front of the FMIC instead of inside it.. Laughing

A very nice guy to deal with. Smile

Yeah disappointed a little as its more to keep the EGT's down and to keep the inlet valves clean rather than for octane gain that i fitted it.

Level playing field i suppose.

Yeh it's EGT's for me too. Small frame turbos get really really hot. And I'm pulling 1100deg plus on one pull. So I'd hate to see what it wld do on 12 laps

Paul's puma had water injection fitted and the scrutiniser just asked if it was just water that was in it that was all that was mentioned

The MSA Regulations state that only atmospheric air and (pump) fuel can be fed into the engine. Introducing any other combustible product, or additional water, is not permitted. However, if water injection was fitted as standard to that car, it is permitted. We had a discussion with the MSA Technical Head on Saturday and all agreed. It is not a case of being difficult to police what is in the tank, but it simply is not permitted.

This effectively stops the use of WMI, or water injection unless standard.

As said, a level playing field.

Excellent build. Cracking engine and box setup for the Mk2. Must be a giggle to drive.
