I Want a Capra AL1 but they have been sold out for a while, and don't want to spend much more than that. Also keeping my eye on pinchbecks.com etc

Road bike id sell for 300 ish, you going to do some charity events?

capra a bit of a beast for the UK, doesn't climb that well and well over suspended for pretty much all trail centres.

I really don't know much about MTB's at all at the moment.

What would you recommend? Looking for a good enduro bike budget around 2500? Id go second hand or new but don't want anything to old either.

A lot of bikes on Pink bikes etc. that Ive never heard of no idea if they are any good.

When I look on chain reaction I don't know if these makes are good, I realise they are far from top of the range.

Nukeproof Mega AM 275 pro 2549.99
Vitus sommet CRV? 2019
Cube
Ghost

a lot depends on the size of the bike. reach and stack are more important than top tube length. 2500 can buy you a lot of bike these days.

I wouldn't bother with the nukeproof, its quite heavy. ghost don't really have anything thats well priced. Cube are pretty good buys as are canyon and radon.

also have a look at rose bikes as you can configure their bikes. if you pick the uncle jimbo build one you can upspec it to 11sp XT, pike RCT3, DT swiss 1501's, magic mary tyres, spank stem, sixc bar and monarch plus shock for around 2350

2500 will easily get you a cracking new Enduro bike.
questions will be 2x10 or 1x11 drivetrain.

main bike a Canyon Strive CF race team here, but dont rule out the shorter travel Spectral, the dudes of hazard (Joe Barnes and co) are riding them as much as the strives. AL6/7 well within your budget and light and more than man enough.

Pal bought an Capra AL1 two months ago and i can confirm he does climb like a bullet and is faster on the Capra in the trail centres than he was on the Trek Fuel. Yes its a longer travel bike m,but not slower. it does have a short top tube though, the 2016 bike offers a longer option.

Giant Reign is a stonking bike for the money, came very close to buying on for myself. I would add that to the list also, plus you can get them almost anywhere. Generally speaking they are rated very high on testing as well.

Bird Aeris also very good. if a little obsure.

The Euro being weak to the GBP makes the german direct buys very good value for money for us at the minute.

Nukeproof and Vitus are Chainreaction owned brands these days.

Add the La Pierre Spicy to the mix as well.

Question by return. what sort of riding do you prefer/enjoy? And what is your physical size and makeup? I have a long torso so a few bikes a re ruled out for me instantly (Capra)

A review of 2015 bikes, granted everything now is 2016! But gives you a flavour, the same bikes appear near the top in multiple reviewers then its a winner.

Hi Matey,

The vitus seems pretty good, decent reviews etc,

I wouldn't touch Ghost, Cube, etc.

I have always like the Nukeproof, but they are pretty heavy.

Just got a 29er myself, Whyte T129S,

for your budget you could buy the 129 Works/scr, awesome bike, great 1/11 SRAM, Pikes up front and monarch rear I think.

you are welcome to a go of my whyte if we get out on the bikes again!

So..... my brakes are shagged LOL

First time out on them MTB this year.... cooked the brakes late last year at pitfichie or scolty... and bled them afterwards, but never used till now.

The pads still look to have some material left but are fairly low.

I'll get some new pads.... any recommendations?

Get a set of XTs Laughing (110 for a pair of M785 or 130 for M8000)

M355s come with B01S resin pads, Y8C998050.

You can fit sintered pads, they might be listed for M525/515/475 as quite a few brakes all use that pad shape.

Check your discs before you fit sintered pads, a lot of the cheaper Shimano discs have "resin only" on them, you can upgrade to a set of SLX discs cheaply to run sintered pads, or go for a set of Ice Techs.

If you are running 160s and buying a new disc I would buy a new bracket and fit a 180mm front rotor.

I would stay away from cheap pads like Clarks, you can get EBC pads in a range of flavours.

I would fit a set of XTs though, its night and day difference, brilliant one finger braking modulation.

Hey Adam,

Im actually upgrading my brakes just now, doing the enduro's I want a bit more power (im not cooking the current ones, im just looking for MROE POWERRRR) and my mate is upgrading to some mega 4 pot brakes so im doing a deal for his old ones

Anyway - ill be selling my ones as they are like new, just replaced the pads too, Avid DB5's with new OEM pads too.

levers, callipers, pipes, discs (180F/160R) probably a decent set-up for you and your bike.

Give me a shout if you are interested.

85 quid?

I think considering it includes the discs etc that's reasonable.
