We're needing to replace/renew our toolkit that we use at trackdays and what not due to a lot of it being missing/misplaced and broken over the years.

A decent 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" ratchet handle is a must

6pt sockets for 6-32mm (deep and shallow for most)

Ratchet combo spanners for 6-21mm too

Any suggestions?

have a look at halfords advanced stuff, GF got me a set for my 40th and it is really good quality, okay not snap on but better than most. also has a lifetime guarantee so if you break something you simply take it into halfords and they will replace it. can often have deals in the shops or via ebay

You wont get the 200 piece kit any cheaper than 150 linked above on the trade card Adam.

Ps, plus 1 for the Halfords kits.

Another vote for halfords, you may not get it all in one set, but its cheap, guaranteed for life and you can get new bits on a sunday.

I've got a trade card you can borrow Adam, I'm in town at work on Monday if you're around? I work round the corner from JamesB's place so could leave it there perhaps?

also my local indy garage uses halfords advanced stuff and the cars they work on isnt the immaculate race cars that dont have rusty as heck bolts. the lads reckon they break less halfords stuff tham they used to do with snap on. I know in days gone by having a massive snap on rollcab was a status symbol but IMO tools are tools and as long as they aint chocolate that is all that matters

btw chorlton you dingied me on FB Crying or Very sad i know i am a boring bandit but Confused

Another vote for Halfords Professional, had mine for at least five years now and haven't broken anything.

Bear in mind halfords professional has been replaced by advanced, and IMO it isn't as good, still decent but not as good as it was..

Halfords Advanced isn't as good as Professional, I'd definitely agree on that. Ratchet mechanisms in particular are more prone to failure and also aren't warrantied, although i have heard this can vary depending on how your negotiations with the staff go.

Have you considered a bluepoint set?
