Thanks Adam

I have downloaded the event regs and starter pack so i will read through that over the next wee while.

My main question is what category my car would be in and what type of modifications i will need to do to make it through scrutineering.

It is a 1994 westfield with a ford 2.0 zetec engine putting out about 120-15 bhp at the wheels and it weights about 640-650kg with me in it. doing the maths on that it puts me at about 195-200bhp per ton so category C. However it is fully road legal and and i will be driving it to and from the events (don't have room to store/own a trailer) but I don't know if this puts me in the road car category or not? obviously wesfield's don't' really come in standard road trim (every one is different!)

in terms of MSA compliant it is a playschool MSA compliant roll over bar (not full cage) a battery kill lever. it's doesn't have any glass to worry about apart from the lights as it is an aeroscreen car. Looking at it i think i just need some tow hooks and a sticker on the battery and i am good to go?

also a few things i wanted to clarify about the format

I see it is 2 x practice slots and a qualifying so in this time you are out with all the other cars in your category on the track at the same and then you just have to find space to do your fast laps within that or with qualifying are you set off in a set order and get an allocated number of laps to get your best times?

so the final i see it is a 1 lap so imagine this is set off individually for an out lap, a flying and then a cool down? is that correct?

final question would be on tyres as it seems the biggest time gain can be made. Do people generally run super soft sprint type tyres to get the best times (i.e 888 SG) or a more medium type tyre? (and is there much difference) just trying to do the maths to do a season next year and i have horror stories about super soft tyres wear rates and of course i need to drive the car home! Smile

Many thanks and sorry if there are any dumb questions !

Cheers Paul

You will be C or D. Road car - if its fully road legal and in a condition that it would/could of come from factory I cant see any reason for it not to be allowed to score in the extra Road Car Championship. This is an extra championship on top of Class and King of the Hill. Best to check that with Rory/Renny though.

Sounds like the spec is fine.

Format: 2x mornign sessions are with half the cars on track at a time (Pro, A, B and sometimes C, then D and E together)

Tyres: Thats more a personal choice or budget driven choice. Not many are using full soft tyres (need to be list 1B)

so I have a Caterham Supersport (140bhp) so roughly in same zone I guess. Tyre wise I use yoko A048 medium 13inch but that's more of a race tyre as it is rather than a sprint - getting up to temp in one lap can be a challenge. You could always look at soft compound in it but may be an idea to look around some 7 esque forums and see what the sprinters use. I would try and have a set for road and set for track as last thing you want is a soft compound tread, heavens open and cant disperse any water Smile
