Squeezing in a lunch time demo in a full day of racing is a bit tricky for me

Totally incomparable tho, that Aston with minimal prep could go do the 24h of Le Mans, the scoob whilst an impressive limited lap car, couldn't.

It is comparable in this context because it's about a lap time at Knockhill, not a 24hr race.

Agreed, it was more about the capability of the car over more than a few laps.

Turkington doing a 51.7 with what around 350bhp? in last years btcc is even more impressive IMHO.

its impressive alright , has david long gave rory a go of the r400? , not saying you cant drive david as you clearly can but that car imo has to be the best pound for lap/power car about , a few aero tweeks to help it brake through the air a bit better would make it mega , only disadvantage as everyone knows KH is a power hungry track , wonder how fast RB has been round KH?

...going at nothing like the pace.

That Impreza is 700 brake and sub 1000kg (going by AFP website).

Delimited Vantage GT3 is ~750hp and 1150kg. By Phil's own admission, Rory or Johnny Adam would have knocked a second off his lap time.

So a lighter car with pretty much the same power and the advantage of 4WD is a bit faster. Comparing the two is the very definition of apples vs oranges.

I dont get the issue with comparisons.... Its the fastest time round knockhill for a saloon car surely?

Outwith the full on single seaters you see from the british sprint/hill championship i cant think of a faster car?

Compare it the lap record (41 something i believe) and its slow, compare it to everything we see regularly at knockhill at its mental fast!

2secs quicker than AG focus... at those sort of lap times that a big margin (unlike 64s to 62s if you get my meaning.... margin is of course the same Laughing )

100% think it (Impreza) would struggle to keep that sort of pace for 10laps of KH constant but of course dial out 3 secs a lap and I'm sure it would survive and still win with enough in reserve.

24hr race - dont be daft Laughing I'm sure no one is saying the Impreza could compete/complete a 24hr race against factory built endurance cars Laughing

Pace over one outright lap - yes....

Adam, I didn't say you compared them, it was the last comment in the thread of comparison / perspective.

So like I said, agreeing with what foz had said, comparing the pace of a car built for pace over one outright lap vs one built for endurance over one lap is apples vs oranges.

By all means, compare it against either AG Focus, or Gobstopper 2, that shows its some machine. I dunno about ten, but damn sure you'd get at least a couple of AFP Imprezas for the price of the RCM one Shocked

Hardly miles apart then.

And no, that definition would be for comparing apples and oranges not the lap times of two saloon cars lapping Knockhill, the point being one is factory and megabucks and one is personally developed and a bit less megabucks.

Which goes back to the early part of the thread reference to people talking about "road car".

Who cares anyway, it's very fast and very impressive.

If minimal prep means a full new drivetrain, engine, suspension and body shell then probably. Wink

I think Foz meant minimal prep from the likes of GT spec racing in UK to Endurance spec for LeMans

It's a completely different spec, phil's car was a V12 GT3 spec car and the endurance Le Mans car is V8 GTE previously GT2.

GT3

GTE

Iirc the only common part is the chassis.

The new owner also has it up for sale if anyone wants it Wink
