mind blowing to think about what it takes and explains why its perhaps not as good on the entertainment level as it could be. If its only about finance pretty much then you dont get the best.

I'd say its the same with a lot of sports these days. Wealthy parents + higher chance of being in the right team, and noticed by the right folks at a young age.

Seems crazy cost wise when you see the numbers laid out like that.

Lets be honest even club racing costs are bonkers.
Everything to do with cars & going fast hurts the wallet.
Very Happy

hmmm, I'm not sure. In a way, yes... but it's only as expensive as you let it be really.

I.e you could be content to rear mid/rear of the grid in an XR2 for a couple of thousand a season inc buying a car! Pushing forward and aiming to win will of course mean more

SLS is cheap (not door to door racing) - but can compete with 1 set of tyres, brakes etc and 750 in entry fees for a year.

I've kinda given up counting how much motorsport costs Laughing but I know a fair chunk is not on the actual racing/car. Fuel and hotels mount up!

I hear ya, it's possible within a lowish budget if happy in mx5 etc

Minimum must be 500 a round x what is it 8 rounds so 4k plus clothing etc
Fine if you can but I can see why it's a pipe dream for many.

it is crazy, clios you are looking at 100k to do it right plus travelling and accomodation, porsches you are looking at 250k for a season, ginettas about 200k. Btcc has to be around the 500k mark nowadays

The 250k for the Porsches doesn't include the car or major damage either, reckon 20/25k per meeting so I believe..

Whos Bob? Aiden's old man?

How much do you think a front running Mini would cost for the season? Support/new tyres every round/transport/damage etc

Yeah I think he means Robert Moffat.

Paul Bells probably well placed to estimate mini costs.
Milliseconds matter for top 5 so car would have to be 99.9% in all areas + driver to stand a chance.
Easily 15k for a season i think + buying/building car

Running Helga really was cheap for the results.
Yours for 9k Wink

a heck of a lot methinks, that ex andy neate chevy was advertised at 175k, then to build the merc, 2 race trucks, spares, equipment, support from cicely racing, support crew minus sponsorship.

you know how to become a millionaire from motorsport... start by being a billionaire then go racing
