Quote:
Major track resurfacing work at Knockhill today
The on going works and improvements are relentless and today is an example of our immense investment for the sport and safety at Knockhill. A vast area on the run down to the first corner (taking in the small area that was an issue at the British Superbike Championship, Clark’s Corner and the braking area to the hairpin are all being resurfaced. All work will be completed today ahead of the SMRC meeting on Sunday and of course, the Dunlop British Touring Car Championship next weekend. Circuit Manager Ian Forrest can be seen here over-seeing the work being completed by Aggregate Industries Scotland, which should give an extended life to the whole race track and higher level of grip and safety.

yup, thats why I thought it was worth a post.

New tarmac is traditionally a bit slippy, esp when wet.

Hairpin - do they have subsidence issues there? The dips/bumps always come back.

Saw that, they better not have taken away my tarmac line braking point for the hairpin. That confused the hell out of me last time they did work there.

I was finding it slippier than usual and at the superbikes they had alot of people go off on it compared to usual.

I did ask about that once - apparently the braking causes the surface to creep and it eventually ridges up. Don't know if that's true, but does sound plausible.
