soo update is that cameras worked great on switch and just spent last 10 minutes sync'ing my best lap with video. watched it back and well... I sync'd wrong video to data Smile Is there a trick to getting the sync working - say displaying time on video as well as telemetry?

I just tried to sync when car started rolling v's video so I reckon pretty close to it. Video is in SIDC post and video quality (just watched it on my tele) was great I think.

I'm having trouble with both micro SD cards Sad

Which cards are you guys using, and how have you formatted them?

I have a generic 16gb micro SD and it will either flash up 'insert card' or 'memory error'

tried formatting in the camera - nope
formatted in windows fat32, default file allocation - nope
formatted in windows exfat, default file allocation - nope

Anyone else had issue?

Tested the power switch today, and it starts recording. Doesnt stop on power off though, which I'd like. Is this an option?

Mounts - the cage mount I bought (listed prev pages) doesnt fit the cage, so will need to source bigger

ah my realm - if I drove like I did computers be doing a 1 min flat in mini ;0

so yeh I had problems formatting the cards in the camera was very strange just sat there forever. I also had a 'insert card' and it was in at a slight angle tiny little buggers. Mine are formatted as FAT32 and are 32Gb cards class 10

Power switch wise if you switch dash cam mode on it essentially auto switches them on when it charges and switches off when no longer charging.

The cage mount I have I had to maximum unscrew to get them to fit round and use a bit of brute force and that was the mounts on here.

so I changed:
resolution for front to 1080p and rear to 720p
loop recording set to off so it doesn't split into 3 minute video chunks
and dash mode set to 'on'

It may be an idea to try to update firmware if its being a dick in case old firmware on camera. One thing I noticed was the bicycle type roll cage mounts never seem to grip the roll cage enough so I have used about 327 cable ties to a) secure it to rollcage so camera doesn't move b) secondary securing mounts for scrutineering.

Firmware wise I presume you got the non-wifi ones so would be http://www.sjcam.com/en/content/9-sjcam-sj4000-action-camera-firmware - its got a date of 2015 8 11 (unsure if 8th November or 11th August).

I will be at testing/race this weekend so don't mind having a look at settings in more detail and will bring laptop along.

Andy - do you still have the firmware .bin file kicking about? The link on the site doesnt work.

SD Cards - seems to be fine with the cards from the GoPro, so ordered a couple of kingston 32Gb cards.

Did you get your generic cards to work? I have one of them too but I think I have lost it Sad

My 2nd SJ4000 should arrive before the weekend. I went with a 16bg calss 10 card from Kingston as they are now less than a fiver. I paid 4.93 but I see you can buy it for 3.89 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-16GB-CLASS-10-KINGSTON-MICRO-SDHC-MEMORY-CARD-WITH-SD-ADAPTER-HC-UHS-1-/221991983627?hash=item33afc0da0b:g:NV0AAOSwwPhWk5xi

My 2nd cam is being mounted on my front splitter. I have a 5m usb cable running from the USB power in the car, through the engine bay to the front bumper.

after a few rounds of SMRC found an 'issue' that I have managed to work round. As per other thread have some corrupted mov files and what appears to happen is that card becomes unreadable by camera (totally fine in PC) and corrupts the video file. Every time I have fixed by formatting the sd card's so think just need to do that more often
