.... something has struck me as a bit strange...

I managed to get out of the US without getting 'stamped' out on my passport. Its been a couple of years, but I'm sure from past visits I have been stamped in, and out even though I have a 10yr work Visa.

New Orleans - first flight was domestic to Atlanta, so fair enough no border control.

Atlanta to Amsterdam - not custom/immigration to stamp out :S

Amsterdam - again, no passport control, straight to gate for flight to Aberdeen.

I got all the way to Aberdeen with very little scrutiny of my passport it would seem. Usual cursory check at the gate when boarding. I went through border control in Aberdeen.

Have procedures in the US changed recently, or am I just imagining that that always stamped out in the past?

I regularly go to the US on business. I cant ever recall having my passport stamped on the way out. The only place I have been where I got stamped on my way out was Kenya where you also had to pay $15 or something to leave.

Rarely get stamped on the way out, hard part is making sure the do it correctly on the way in Smile
I think this was relaxed after the introduction of the ESTA system.

I'm more interested in how you got a 10 year visa? !

I'll find out if it's any more secure at Charleroi in Brussels tomorrow. Should be "interesting" to see what the highest security alert level is like Confused

If you are leaving from there when your coming back I'd suggest the van der valk hotel as you can rent gold fish for your room Laughing

Love it, must try that next time... Laughing

I was just passing through Charleroi on the way to Alicante. Stayed at the Hotel Melia there for a few business trips, if anyone goes, ask for a renovated room - nice & contemporary...the view at breakfast is stunning too Cool
