You will need about 1/3 the lead acid capacity. All the capacity is available at cranking voltage, unlike the lead acid.
Like most things you get what you pay for. The more expensive batteries tend to be better balanced and protected and generally improve reliability. The lower cost ones do the job and have just as good cranking current, but you just need to take a bit more care of them. _________________ R600 Dubaru

A&G Motorcycles doing good deals on MUK (MSA) Approved Li-iON batteries now.
I was £90 for a Powerlite PS-09 complete with charger and necessary cert. _________________ Integra Type R DC2 - My Choob |

Thanks for the info Nez, how has yours been (assuming you've had it for a while)? Reliable?
I'd like one the main thing putting me off is I'd have to add the weight back in as ballast anyway to meet minimum weight for my class
Currently using a Odyssey PC545.

I just got this one a week or so back, Dunc, so can't really comment.
I had a Magnetti Marelli MM-iON-10 which lasted about 3 years then started getting a little bit lazy. I didn't use a proper charger or take it indoors at Winter etc. so I suspect it could have lasted longer.
Never had any issues with them though so I'm hoping this one will last just as long, if not longer, since it comes with it's own dedicated charger.
This new one is 1.2Kg, for info. _________________ Integra Type R DC2 - My Choob |

Bit of a bump on this, and on topic lol,
I have read the Syvecs ECU's are power hungry, and when cranking they can have a dip in voltage that stops the car from running?
Adam have any issues with Fee's car ?
Anyone know how they will fend with a heated screen?
Also just reading the comments about charging, my alternator is just a basic alternator (ford had smart charging built in to them but thats disabled) are the battery's easy to kill/overcharge ?
I currently use a Red top 25 so theirs 6kg of weight to be saved just by switching to the YTX14 battery!
I see Ctek do a new charger ct5-powersport - Its about £20ish quid cheaper than there dedicated lithium charger. I dont want to move away from Ctek as i like the little clip in plugs. £140 for a charger and battery is an alright deal. |

Fee's car runs a RT15
Mine (impreza) ran a wee 900g Lithium battery
Both ran syvecs, both had/have heated screens.
Both had OE alternators
I'm pretty strict with the screen use.... i.e i will NEVER run the screen without the car running/moving. It will just kill the battery in no time. Screen off before stopping etc
If you buy the MSA approved Powerlite PS09 battery it comes with a charger - all in 70quid or so from A&G Motorcycles. They also have much better cranking power in the real world (compared to the ebay YT i had in impreza)
Mini used to take a while cranking till the ECU saw 12v/timing was sorted out etc.
Fee's fires up instantly _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

Worth a phone then as i cant see that info on there website?
Im the same with the heated windscreen, it draws so much so quick that the batterys do die mega fast, to the point of 5 mins and the focus wont start! |
