SuperLapScotland Rounds 4 and 5..... I dont know where to start Neutral

First off - well done to Fee. P1 in both Rounds 4 and 5. Even with a working car I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have been able to beat you today. Well Done - you can go faster though Smile

Secondly - The problems and fixes.....

SAT - Exhaust manifold split at the collector, hot gasses burnt through the splitter and melted about 10 wires together. Got them welded up as best they could be. Now that I have front brakes.... the wheels are hitting the top of the arches. This broke the tethers for the engine loom and proceed to cut a few wires and short another handful - leading to the sick car that was evident in Qualy and Final for Round 4 (undiagnosed by this point)

Sat Night - Rob Attwood donated his manifold, Paul Blamire, Matty Lawson and Davie Coutts all helped out with the loom issues. Ready for sunday Smile

SUN morning - Warmed the car up, switched off..... and bottom coolant hose burst :/ No problem, carry a spare so swapped after it cooled. Out for warmup... stuck in 55s lap and called it quits after 2 hot laps.
Ready for practice 2. Out we go all good, first hot lap and caught Keith at the hairpin.... needed full boost to catch him... and the car triggered limp mode for fuel pressure. 1 hot lap, mid 55s again. Back to pits... and from some advice for Paul it may have just been as simple as not enough fuel (doh). Also found a ruptured boost hose. Fixed (bodged with hose from Steven Darley). Ready for qualy.
Managed a few laps in qualy but watching vids (see below) the boost pipe went again on Lap1 and got worse (you can hear the air). VERY scrappy session just trying to force the car round. Great fun, and prob interesting to watch... but a bit annoyed with myself. 55s again.
Replaced boost pipe with one from Rob Attwood (again Very Happy ) and out for the final. Sadly I think I missed the tightening of 1 clip... NO BOOST. Pootled round.... tatties over the side.

That about sums it up for now :/

.... that last lap was a 55.4 LOL

Sideways through chicane, sideways through clarks and fishtailing down the back straight..... sideways before hairpin and through it.

Def a 53 in the car. Not this weekend though. One to forget.

Shocker of a weekend for you Adam. You did look to be having some fun in the car at least even if it was borne from frustration!!

Maybe it's time to bin (or sell; "occasional Sunday use only, garaged, very regularly maintained... Wink ) the Scoob and get into something that won't let you down!

na... not time to give up. The car has been really good of late, and I think all of this may just be down to 1 small part.

The clamp that supports the turbo doesnt appear to be there anymore.... I didnt remove it, so can only assume its parted company at somepoint.

This has prob allowed the turbo/uppipe to shoogle.... splitting the headers, ripping boost pipes etc.

The front loom issue = new problem from now having front brakes.... I love brakes and was finally getting to brake as late as my head was telling me to in previous rounds!

Nothing major to fix... just a few wee things all at once that caused a bit of a 'mare

I'm always surprised how you don't give up - full marks for perseverance! Making changes always throws up issues and trouble.

Looks like my handling problems turned out to be self inflicted. Seems there was and error in the ride height calculation (or wrong method of calculation) when changing to the bigger diameter 1b tyres. Not enough testing with the new springs and dampers is really to blame - but I new the risks, so my fault. Sad.

I'm still in disbelief that that last lap in the video is a 55.4 Laughing It is a shocking lap :/

Bugger is my vbox wasnt working (power kept dropping out..... ). Will see if I have any data though... other wise it'll be just the speed trap stuff to go on.

Car was def down on power so not just making it up on straights

Safe to say those tyres are pretty knackered. SLS last year, a few SMRC races, some trackdays, SLS this year.... Laughing
