Maybe lol.

Braided no one seems to do them off the shelf for my car so looks like made to order, fluid has just been changed so will probably be left but will get the guy to check it over.

if your brakes 'went' on track it'll just happen again IMO. Pads will withstand the temps better but the issue just moves to the next weak point Smile

Yup, HEL lines should be fairly cheap and customisable to your car

Hel is Who I was thinking but on the website it only lists the mk1 fabia. It’s Gerry that does the custom ones isn’t it?

Did the next round of the Scottish Road Car Series yesterday. First time out with the new turbo set up. Weather forecast looked to be wet with rain throughout the day so decided the leave the Avons at home but it didn't rain while we were there and it dried out quickly.

Quickly learn that the car needs a diff too now for getting the power down all it was doing was spinning.

As i knew the brakes were needing replaced i wasnt expecting much from the brakes but they were still stopping it quicker than expected as you can see in the videos i stopped too short of the box a couple of times

Gauges are speed, gforce, rpm and boost

Went to get the new brakes fitted today and think they really were finished after yesterday

New Mtec discs and Brembo pads for now

Next time out Santa Pod on the 2nd of september hopefully get some decent 1/4 mile times.

Really do love this car. Gets used on track, drag strips, sprints yet still gets 55 mpg on the way to work and 70mpg on a motorway run and used every day

So took the trip down to the pod yesterday which involved a 3am start to get there for 9. Never been before so didn't know what to expect but at least hoped to match Crail times.

The biggest surprised was just hope sticky the track actually is! At Crail launching it at 3000rpm is just spins the wheels. Doing the exact same at Santa Pod and you actually bog down.

Did 3 runs on the ZZR's and best i got was a 15.72 @87.36mph. As the car kept bogging down so swapped back to my road Conti's which did allow some slip and getting launchs which got times down to 15.68 @88.23MPH. So didn't match my 15.4 from Crail

The last 3 runs had a very consistent speed wise with 88.72,88.03 and 88.23 whereas on the ZZR's they varied between 84 and 87 mph.

Took ages between runs as the track kept getting shut down due to people dropping fluid, managed 7 runs in total but the first 4 took 6 hours to do the last 3 i managed in the last 45 mins as nearly everyone had left.

Headed home about 6 and when driving through some of the M6 road works but my wind down for some air and noticed i could hear my turbo spool more which i rather liked. Parked up home and noticed the that it sounded more grumbly than normal but as it was 1am and i was shattered went to bed and looked at it this morning and this is what greeted me.

Lovely crack along the weld of the downpipe. Took it to a local garage that do work on it and put it on the ramp to check for more and spotted this at the next weld down, looks like the only thing keeping it together is the bracket.
.

Think it might have been due to how grippy the pod is that engine movement caused it to move and crack.

Darkside who were there and helping me working out how to reduce my times were fantastic and already have a new one on the way.

Same that its not true that things in the mirrors arent losing all the time Laughing

Got the old downpipe off today was worse than i thought Shocked

Speaking with Darkside the dogbone/engine mounts will probably need to be swapped as we think that with the amount of grip at the pod its caused so much movement which in turn put pressure on the downpipe doing this to it.

Don't think ill be going back to the pod soon though Laughing

Car does have some movement when leaving the line though
