I'll let Fee fill in the blanks.... its her car.

1969 RHD Fiat 500 L ( i think L going by the spec - it has the nudge bars, but they are off the car just now) , low 60k miles, navy blue with tan interior.

Its had some upgrades done recently - electronic ignition, bigger drive shafts, new engine seals etc.

That looks like real good fun. I loved working on early Fiat's. The engines are bullet proof, albeit a little prone to wear by modern standards. Will we ever see it at KH?

Maybe at a classic event but I doubt it'll ever be on track as such Laughing

It peaked at 55mph..... so er may struggle to do a lap in under a year

Oh my god, I LOVE it!

I lived in a wee town in Italy when I was younger and all the oldies used to tootle around the town in them! I've wanted one ever since!

It needs a bit of work, but nothing major or urgent

The seats are a bit worn...ideally I'd like to keep the same style, but in the red/burgundy

like that (but nicer!)

The bonnet's got a wee dent in it, so will need to get that sorted / replaced (new ones are so cheap!) and then possible freshen up the paintwork next winter

Keeping it blue

yup, I'd agree - burgundy seats, doors cards etc.

New bonnet

dash re-done

wheels re done

chrome work sorted out where needed.

No doubt there will be some nasties uncovered when its taken back for a respray, but the floor pan seemed in very good condition. Lower arch perhaps a bit crusty.

I love the simplicity of it, and the design of the dash/steering wheel

Yeah...there's some wear on the drivers one at the bottom, but otherwise they're good. Will maybe just get a back seat tan cover as well and then I can switch around the interior depending on what I fancy (or to match my outfit LOL)

My Grandad use to have one of those, so remember a few trips. I hadn't realised how small they were until a few years ago when I saw one down south.

Love these wee things

Was really amazed just how many of them are still out and about in Rome when I was there.

some wee updates.

500 is now out of its winter hibernation... (new MOT last year, front hub, kingpin and undersealed).

First off was to adjust the gears/clutch. It was very difficult to find a gear once the car was hot, and the change was very sloppy. I think it quite a common issue of the clutch cable stretching - so a simple tweak and vast improvement. Tightened up the joint in the selector rod too - more direct now.

Service - changed the plugs (all 2 of them), fuel filter, air filer, oil and .... er what about an oil filter Lol???!

It runs a centrifugal oil filter, which has no replaceable element as such, just a cap that collects debris. Cleaned that oil, and a new seal.

Filled up with mineral oil.

Something soothing about such simplicity Very Happy

The pedals were also a bit slippy, and never mind tiny! Grip tape applied. Race Boots? I have to wear small shoes to drive the car as my feet are just physically too big with normal day to day foot wear lol

Out for a wee test drive Very Happy
