Do all RA's have a roof vent?
Question is:- Is this an RA?
Looks a bit of a bargin to me if it is.

Is the STI version a stronger engine (CDB) or much of a muchness? Been a good few years since I had the Scoob and the brain has eroded a bit since then

it is an RA you can usually tell at a quick glance by the ariel on A pillar normal STI`s have them on the rear quarter, and also the lack of rear wiper, normal STi`s have these too

only the STi version of the RA got a roof vent

the version 1 and 2 both got the closed deck block, thats a version 3 (face lift) so no cdb i know the STI had forged internals apart from the rods i think it was? but dont think the wrx did, im not 100% sure on that so dont quote me on it

if your looking for one dont be fooled by the lightweight glass and light weight panels that seem to get thrown about, its all bolloks!

Mmm, looking on SIDC,
No DCCD and only 240bhp as std
Is DCCD really any use for track work? Would want to get 330 / 330 ish out of it without major surgery. Is that a realistic target?

DCCD is a handy option for trackdays i think, in the dry i leave the diff fully open so its practically RWD IIRC i think its something like 84/14 bias to the rear, in the wet i can lock the diff to more of a 4 wheel set up, the only time i have fully locked the diff was last week in the snow the donuts were good Razz

i would go with the STi if you could afford it TBH

That's a good price, and the car looks pretty good too.
I think the Version 3 WRX ra would be 260bhp. 1 & 2's were 240bhp.

You don't need DCCD for a track car. My new age JDM STi has it, but my track car doesn't. I've used both on track and the difference is very little.
The DCCD on a classic is a very basic system, the new-ages got a far more advanced version.

If the car is to be a pure track car with little road use, you can alter the suspension with Whiteline parts and a race geometry set-up to get it to handle exactly how you like it. With or without DCCD.

Yup, for a wee bit extra I'd go for an STi III / IV TypeRA.... and a smidgen more the 2dr R.

DCCD - Havent used the white STi in anger yet, but the times we've had the old black one on track we did play with the DCCD. Esp in the wet. Helps dial out a bit of the agrressive oversteer on damp/greasy road/tracks... and if you get it right gives 4wh drifts... also introduces a bit understeer.

Just covering bases at the moment, Still got the Orange Missile - need to see how you fare against that 1st Wink Get yer Ass back to this country so we can have a play.
Still got the full Nos Kit and 2 full bottles so promising nothing Very Happy You & DaveR both have a fair bhp advantage (and bigger budget Shocked ) so need something to even the score a bit

Bigger budget, you must have me mixed up with someone else. Laughing
My complete car and all the mods so far, is still under 5000.

For this year, I've got a bit more power, 20-30 bhp. Bit less weight, 30-40kg. And a track / race suspension set-up rather than a fast road.
