Hiya
Ive done away with the rear shoe / handbrake in the Impreza.... and looking for some input on a method to hold the car (park/line etc).
1: Solenoid released line lock - button with LED - I like this idea, but Fee is concerned she may forgot to release it and do a Lowell/Craig and drive a few laps with brakes glowing.
2: Line lock lever - same as above but more lo-tech. Easier to forget about, harder to operate (potentially) when buckled in
3: Drifto style hydraulic handbrake - this is Fee's choice.
Any words of wisdom on either of above? _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

I recently fitted a hydraulic handbrake for a guy, went for the basic lever version, bought off the bay £30 ish, decent quality, easily fitted and piped in, no nonsense just hold it on when on the line and let go when ready, locks on if required for trailer.
one consideration is to get one that can be mounted normal as well as vertical operation as depending where you fit it you may find that vertically it’s either out of reach or awkward when strapped in or it gets in the way of elbows, knees, gears etc when driving |

yup, that was my only gripe with it my white impreza.
Just wasnt keen on the location - and its was a fairly flimsy cheap level/system :S _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

Adam, you could use the std handbrake lever if the position is good, just needs a cylinder, mounting bracket and a lug fabricated on the lever for the actuator rod. |
