Slightly bigger than the last one, but perhaps a bit lower. I need to get a firm handle on the heights (internal heights and truss design) from the architect/engineer but roof height isnt the top priority in this one.
6250mm wide
6750mm long
wide enough for 3 cars on dollies if required, easy room for 2 daily cars, and easy access with 2.1m tall 5.5m wide roller door.
Double doors in centre of rear wall, with a window either side. Peaked roof.
How would you lay it out? _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

I think the aprox internal roof height (if simple trusses used) will be 2.7m.... _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

what about building in a small clean room area, could be handy if you are doing work on parts that need to be kept really clean or storing parts that need to be kept clean. even an area 8' by 6' with a bench and shelving _________________ Race marshal found at knockhill and anywhere lunatics crash

In my opinion its not big enough for that without sacrificing car storage room. A work bench area yes, but a clean room no :S
Ideal world I'd build another garage just for that, then a pool room, then a cinema above ahhh, dreams _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

IMO a "dirty room" is probably more useful than a clean room, especially if the workshop is being used for car storage too. Used for grinding, spot blasting, spraying etc without getting crap on the other cars.
If space is an issue you could have some sort of curtain arrangement to go round either the work bench or one of the car parking slots. |

I know folk with smaller houses & less furniture
Look at tiny Bruno
Would a pit or sunken scissor lift be an idea?
Possibly an RSJ incase a hoist is wanted later?
A beer fridge is a legal requirment now I believe.

the more i look at them, the more I kinda want one.....
a central sunken (flush) scissor lift...
BUT i will always want space under to do stuff, so that goes back to 2/4post ramps.

another bit of building work.... and another neighbour objecting.
Haven't heard who or why yet, but hopefully get a bit more info during a site visit by the council.
Must be the garage, as the house extension is no bigger than its current foot-print, just a smidge taller, and mostly glass.
Any obstructed views? Of our house, or other peoples houses.... yes. The rear looks on to a lane and the back of the next roads houses. _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

Approval was granted - the objection was a small one from our neighbor regarding a drainage channel between the garages.
Still trying to find specific details on roof truss design and ceiling height from the plans :/ _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC

That would drive me nuts, 7 months to resolve a gutter, why didnt they just pop over and chap your door?
Congratulations on the approval though, when does the build start? |

approval was given a while back, but it was still something that had to be resolved. This was a simple/painless issue compared to the last garage build's planning!
Looking to start late Feb/early March. There is building work to the house too, so the rebuild of the garage might be last.... after current garage is demolished, founds laid..... I'd imagine this would help with site access for the house stuff. _________________ Impreza Race Car, 1200kg, 480bhp - SLS/SMRC
